Felt the true meaning of Janmashtami this year in Bloom Birthing centre Velachery

Sangeetha John met me in 2016 .
She was desperate in going for Natural birth as her first childbirth was a c section which she even now doesn't know why it happened. After 6 years this pregnancy ,she was so bold in her thoughts in going through natural birth. She is the person who was fighting for her rights in her own family with her mom and in laws to go with natural birth, as all her family members wanted her to go via c section.
Everything was going as her plan but around 41 weeks 5 days it happened to be an emergency c section.This time she was so happy to go through c section as she knows the reason of why its happening so and than it was a beautiful boy baby and she exclusively breastfed without any hassle.
In the mid of 2017 I met her with her elder sister vijayalakshmi who was on her family way.Viji came from Bangalore to discuss on her VBAC chances and Sangeetha was so desperate to make it happen for her sister.Viji went back to Bangalore and I met her again around her 34-35 weeks.
I was so confident with Viji not because of Viji but it is for Sangeetha. Even I remember telling her you can go with labor only with Sangeetha as your labor support because I know how much effort she had placed. Only for one session I met Viji husband , I was particular in saying whatever it is make sure Sangeetha is around .
Around 8.00 am september 2 nd I think Sangeetha called and said that Viji has back pains and I will update after reaching home.Around 12.00 pm she called me and said we has taken appointment for pregnancy massage can we do it,I said please go ahead.
Around 10.30 pm Viji husband called and said that pain is intense than we decided to go yo hospital. Around 1.30 am received a call saying they are in hospital and 2.00 am from duty doctor saying Viji is 6 cm dilated than when I went there by 2.20 am we shifted Viji to floor mattress as they had planned for natural birth.
Baby head started to crown with the sac . Viji was not able to bear she was exploring positions and 3.30 am September 3rd baby girl was born with the sac. The moment baby came out sac broked on Viji's husband's hand as he was also ready along with the doctor to receive baby.
It was so much joy which was not seen externally but I could see in each ones hearts.
It was Sangeetha who gave birth there as I could see her dream has come true with this little princess birth.

Natural Birth in Hands on Knees position

This mother whom I supported is a second time mother who had vaginal birth in her first pregnancy.
She was so desperate to give birth the way she wants this time which didn't happen in her last childbirth.
She called me around 7.00 am as her labor is due to May 22nd 2018 she got her her contractions in her 36 weeks. She was not planned for this. She wished to have a waterbirth as it was a late preterm I told her better to go with natural birth instead of water birth.
She agreed and by 10.00 am she said she wants in hands on knee position
so we helped her out on the labor bed itself and with in seconds she was telling baby head is there it was such a relax calm birth after birth too she didn't recognise that given birth  it was so easy for her.

Birth is not what we plan-sometimes it happens like this

From my 20 th week of pregnancy i started attending these antenatal classes from Bloom birthing centre. I was always googling and learning how to keep myself and mybaby healthy but birth choices from my limited knowledge i knew only normal , water and c section deliveries. I expected only excersises to be part of these classes but these sessions turned out to be much  more than that. I learned all the birth choices available ,how to prepare ur and partners mind and body for the experience , what to expect and how it can go awry irrespective of how prepared u are. I felt so confident in facing my delivery, ate healthy, i always had answers for all the elder's do this and do that kind of probes scientifically and walked an hr per day and did my excersises atleast 5 times a week for an hr till my 41 st week of pregnancy.  My husband and Jayashree mam were very supportive till the end and Jayashree mam  has offered support post  delivery also. She is very resilient and more determined than the mother herself to get her through a natural / water birth. The kind of support she offers throughout labour is something which cannot be explained. Though i have chosen natural birth i could not continue it due to my pain tolerability and my very slow progressing labour but she was with me throughout urging and guiding me and was taking my adamancy too well till i  put my foot down to take an epidural and even after that she respected my decision and made sure i was well taken care off.

Sabha Reuban

Hypnobirthing in Water and Delayed cord clamping

Sabha , first met me in childbirth sessions . She was accompanied by her wonderful husband Reuban who use to be so attentive duromg the sessions. Discussion of each topic is dealt in detail with this couple.
Sabha showed her interest in learning hypnobirthing. I don't know about her completely , I was getting to know in these sessions. She use to follow the hypnobirth techniques so regularly with Reuban giving her the utmost comfort in all her decisions.

Around their 36 weeks they said of having Water birth. After all formal routines they were signed in for Water birth. Sabha was so sure that she can bear the worst pain also as she had undergone many in her life. She was prepared mentally for the day without high expectations.

From 14 th April Reuban was updating me on her body changes .we were watching for all signs.
During that week itself she was 3 cm dilated but no contractions.

On 20th April Sabha she was getting bit restless and than by afternoon gone to Bloom. Sabha was very relaxed.
I went by 8.00 pm on that day we had some workouts and some chatting and I asked which is her favourite food , she wanted to have parotta and tea.So she had that by 9.00 or 10.00 pm like that. Than by 10.30 pm I left hospital to see my little one at home,informing Reuban to call me whatever changes he notice.

21 st April 12.30 am I was getting a call which I missed and when I called back at 1.30 am I could hear Sabha voice during contractions .I rushed to the hospital we don't know how she has progressed as per their plan they don't want to know the progression and wanted to let it happen when time comes. Sabha was not able to take up contraction she was in and out of water tub . Too much of hard work for Reuban to comfort her .

Around 5.00 am Sabha started to feel the head. Reuban is sitting behind Sabha ,Dr.Rudra near to Reuban and myself in front of Sabha. Reuban started to say I could feel the head, than head came off, I was informing Reuban not to take his hands off,Sabha was taking time and letting it happen as she get each contractions. Reuban was saying I could feel a cord I was not getting any cord than Reuban said oh mam its the cheek. I could still remember his face telling me its eyes nose mouth. Dr.Rudra from behind saying one hand is here , still baby is taking its time after 4-5 minutes in her next contraction baby came out like a fish and straightway to Sabha's chest we placed a cute baby boy.

So much of joy was there it was a boy baby with a weight of 3.7 kg .

I do remember what Sabha told me in her antenatal period.
I will be good in the preparing for everything it can be running race ,drama or anything ,but exactly on the day something will go wrong it will not happen as I plan. I was assuring her birth is not about her its her baby.
Now this time things went on exactly the way Sabha and Reuban as planned.

From water birth to Normal vaginal birth

Aditi mohanakrishnan blessed with Baby Boy on 23 rd morning May 2018 @ 6.44 am

Need to write more about Aditi , it was a total transformation to what they were before attending the sessions and by the end of the sessions I was notable to believe the change which happened .

Aditi and Mohan had visited 5 major hospitals in the city before coming to Bloom. After their visit to Dr.Kavitha and their first session with us had made them to decide to have their pregnancy check ups with Bloom.

Mohan is literally a lay man who doesn't been exposed to any kind of medical field so all things were new like others but the speciality is I need to prepare for him when he is there in my sessions bcoz he use to ask lot of technical questions which I have to give a non technical answers in the way he understands.

Aditi showed interest on hypnobirth , though mohan not so into it initially later it was mohan whom I saw lot of changes in him which do impacted Aditi . These things changed the perception of birth to Aditi.

Aditi is very gentle and delicate ,who was so scared of the labor process but after the sessions she came up with a choice of natural and water birth.

I amazed with the progression she made during labor. 11.00 am she came with 4 cm dilated and by 2.00 pm fully dilated and by 6.00 pm baby was in +1 station.
Baby was in the same state till next day morning 4.00 am than came to +2 station and than by 6.44 am had a normal natural vaginal birth.

She was amazing in the way she took the contractions. You can't decide a mother's determination just by seeing there is always something deep within is there. She gave that lesson to me.

WaterBirth for a 21 year old First time mother

First water birth for this year 2018
When I spoke to Akeela over phone the first thing I asked her is why you need water birth , akeela said its my dream from m...y college days as I read a lot from Qur'an.

When I spoke to her husband azad he said its becoz my wife desires I want to support her dream.
I was clueless whether to go with water birth with them. I told them I will meet in person to finalize.
Met them ,only thing they were saying is we want water birth whatever may b the situation..
So I said we will see as time goes.
January 4 th 2018 was her due date,no info from them waited for their call.January 5 th received call around 6.00 am azad saying that she s getting contraction every 3-5 minutes once.I told them to go to Bloom Birthing Centre.
Around 9.00 am from the centre they she s getting 3 contraction in 10 minutes.Around 10.00 am her contractions were intense they were no to epidural than I went there at 11.00 am .
What a will power she had in her face I was sure in my thought she will go with water birth.
Around 3.00 pm her contractions had helped her to bear down.
At 3.44 pm she delivered baby girl .
Cord around the neck and baby passed meconium during birth.
The couple was so happy to see their dream come true.
Initially I didn't expect from this 21 year old mom.
Birth is always a miracle
